I've been going back and forth on what my next piece would be. I was originally thinking about a critical assessment of the farce that is the FA's new "home grown" rule. This is a rule in it's essence is a lazy attempt to make the clubs under the FA's purview pay for it's inability to develop youth talent for the national team. The other option for a piece was a look at the season ahead andfairly determine where Arsenal could wind up in the table. That will still come in this interlull.

I think the EPL schedule makers must have a sense of humor. But I digress. Any journey to Ewood park these days means a meeting with a team managed by one of Arsene Wenger's true nemesis - Sam Allardyce.

Greetings fellow YAMA faitful - it is I DAG again. I am here to introduce another new writer to our fold. Please give a welcome to Connor Reidy.
Every season the media goes gaga over the newbie Premier League team that manages to do something at the beginning of the season. Last year it was Wolves and the season before that it was Hull. In each case the debutante club suffered a slow decline to fight for their Premier League lives. This season is no different as the media after one week have decided to latch onto Blackpool. And given the problems at Arsenal it is no wonder the press seem to have some thoughts to crowning Blackpool the first team to take all three points from the London Club this season.

I'm of two minds for this result. If I take a step back at look at the result and the two teams involved - a 1-1 draw at Anfield without Van Persie, Fabregas and Song . Or, a 1-1 draw with Manuel Almunia in goal. Maybe you'd prefer,a 1-1 draw with Jack Wilshere making his debut. Or perhaps this is more to your taste - a 1-1 draw that saw Arsenal play for 90 minutes with 10 men because Andrei Arshavin mysteriously wasn't on the field. With all those possibilities a 1-1 draw doesn't seem so bad. However, when you look at the manner in which we got there. Well, that is the story isn't it?

Whether it was 1989 for the league title or Arshavin’s solo quad clinic, Arsenal have built some profound memories at that storied ground. So it is with mixed feelings that I write about our [...]

It was better than the previous season when Arsenal were clearly out of the title before the season begun. But in 2009-2010 with an endless parade of first-teamers lounging out on the trainer's table, Arsenal managed to reach above their head and contend for the title until April when the weight of injuries (and some really bad goal keeping) did them in.

It's current top two, Manuel Almunia and Lukasz Fabianski, don't instill any kind of confidence in the team's ability to contend for a title of any kind.
