A Look Back At Some Of Arsenal’s Biggest Moments This Millenium

Arsenal is one of the biggest teams in the Premier League and would say one of the best. The club has experienced both highs and lows since its founding back in 1886, and we’ve decided to take a look back at some of the club’s top moments ever. Enjoy!

Beating The Trophy Drought

In May 2014, Arsenal beat Hull City in extra time and won the FA Cup, marking an end to the football team’s dreaded nine-year trophy drought. The gigantic win marked the first major trophy Arsenal won since the FA Cup final back in 2005 when it defeated Manchester United during penalties. The team worked hard to reach the FA Cup final in 2014 and worked even harder to win it against Hull which started off incredibly well.

Interestingly, bookmakers and casinos didn’t have faith in Arsenal winning any trophy at this time. Various sister sites offered odds of 2.x, which is remarkably high considering that during normal times, Arsenal would be a major favourite to Hull in any game. Since their 2014 win, Arsenal has gone on to win three more FA Cups, ensuring they and their fans never experience a drought again.

Moving To Emirates Stadium

Between 1913 and 2006, Arsenal Stadium was the home of the Gunners. Located in Highbury, London, the stadium hosted both Arsenal matches as well as plenty of international events. What’s more, the nearby Gillespie Road Piccadilly Line tube station was renamed Arsenal after the stadium In May 2006, after being denied planning permission to expand Arsenal stadium, the Gunners relocated to the bigger, more modernised Emirates Stadium, a move which was regarded as the biggest decision in Arsenal’s history.

The Return Of Thierry Henry

French football Thierry Henry is widely regarded as one of the best footballers around. Between 1999 and 2007, Henry played for Arsenal and helped the team win two FA Cups, two Premier League titles, and more. Unfortunately, Henry transferred to Barcelona in 2007, a move which upset hundreds of fans. In a strange turn of events, the famous footballer made his return to Arsenal almost five years later in 2012 on an emergency loan deal from the New York Red Bulls. Henry remained on the team for a two-month period and helped a winning goal in an FA Cup match against Leeds United in the same year.

Arsene Wenger’s Departure

Another big moment in Arsenal history is Arsene Wenger’s decision to leave the football team. The former French football player took on the role of managing the club in 1996 and continued until 2018 when he decided to retire from the industry altogether. The move rocked the football world as Wenger, who remains the Gunners’ longest-serving manager, was responsible for helping the team win seven FA Cups, three Premier League titles, and helped the team coin the nickname The Invincibles.

There are plenty of other important moments in Arsenal history, but we believe these to be some of the biggest. However, the list shouldn’t end there as we think there are plenty more big moments to look forward to in the coming years, including more shocking wins and exciting game matches. After all, isn’t that the reason we all love football?
