Can Alexandre Lacazette emerge out of Aubameyang’s shadow?

Over the years, The Gunners have been incredibly consistent. They stand fifth this season ( Nov 8, 2019). The club is known for its aggressive on-field tactics. The club’s supporters love watching THe Gunners in action. Also, it goes pretty much without saying that the club has some of the finest strikers in its ranks. The likes of Pierre Emerick Aubameyang, Nicholas Pepe and Alexandre Lacazette constitute the club’s forward line. At present, they have one of the strongest forward lines in the Premier League ( on paper). However, the truth happens to be a bit different.

Those who follow The Gunners closely would be well aware of the fact that the team has been slightly over-reliant of Aubameyang in recent times. Every single time Arsenal require a goal, Aubameyang is expected to do the scoring. At present, Aubameyang is the club’s most reliant striker, while others are just trying to catch up.

Lacazette, in all fairness, has the ability to become the club’s leading goalscorer. At present Aubameyang can be seen leading the club’s attacking lines. However, it will be a good idea to offer a bit more freedom on the field. He needs to be provided with ample freedom to express himself.

What is the need of the hour?

In all fairness, the Gunners have been performing reasonably well in recent times. In the 2018-19 season, the club finished fifth with 21 wins, 10 losses and seven draws. Arsenal FC is one of the top contenders of the Premier League. Every year, the club kicks-off the season as one of the favourites to lift the title. Arsenal have some of the finest players in its ranks. However, punctuating the club’s dominating on-field displays are some sinister defeats.

In order to get rid of these sinister defeats, the club needs players who can support Aubameyang. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is undoubtedly a world-class player, but he cannot be overburdened. Other strikers within the setup need to step up if and when Aubameyang fails to convert scoring opportunities into goals.

Can Lacazette step up?

Well, of course, he can. He is one of the most experienced players in Arsenal FC’s line up. Unlike other forwards, he isn’t one of the most popular figures within the setup, but his on-field performances do end up grabbing a lot of eyeballs. In seven Premier Leagues this season, the Frenchman has scored just two goals. Well, numbers won’t be able to highlight the kind of impact Lacazette has on the team. He is a team man and can walk on broken glass if his teammates want him to.

He is an impact player and believes in taking the bull by its horns. He doesn’t shy away from accepting challenges either.

The Lacazette Brand of football

Lacazette’s brand of football revolves around two things, i.e. precision and control. He won’t score two goals in every match. Lacazette scores when nobody else can. The 28-year-old is known for his elegance and on-field creativity. The moment he sets foot on the field, he wants to create an everlasting impact.

Despite making a bittersweet start to the season, the Gunners have the skill to turn the tide in their favour. They can still win the Premier League – one day. In order to turn that into reality, they will have to come out all guns blazing.
