“I hope I’m wrong!” – Arsenal legend makes prediction

Arsenal have been climbing up the Premier League table quietly and currently find themselves sitting in fifth as we have entered the final international break of 2021.
Indeed, many will have been cursing the international break for coming at such a point in the season as the Gunners have been looking rather solid in their attempts to restore some credibility to the team after a couple of embarrassing seasons at the Emirates Stadium.
Mikel Arteta’s side are currently enjoying a 10-game unbeaten streak across all competition thus far, with the team having been able to propel themselves into contention for a European football spot for next season. Many have turned to Finland’s netti-kasino.org in the hope that they have the same luck and can enjoy the same positive experiences that the Gunners are enjoying on the pitch when they use the best online casino bonuses that they can find.
Whilst Arsenal find themselves just two points behind Liverpool who are fourth, one former club legend still believes that finishing in the top four is not something that his old team will be able to manage this season.
Nigel Winterburn had admitted that whilst he had answered the same question at the start of the season with an answer that would have to be considered tongue in cheek, he has revealed that he had initially thought that it was unrealistic and is continuing to stick to his guns.
‘You’ve got to get your own form right. I was asked about a prediction at the start of the season, ‘can Arsenal finish top four’ well of course they can, because the players are good enough for them to sneak into that sort of bracket,’ he told Metro.co.uk.
‘Did I actually think they would achieve that when I was asked? Probably not.
‘I thought that the teams ahead of them such as Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea, just looked to have a bit more about them. Then you’re looking at Man Utd who signed [Cristiano] Ronaldo and [Jadon] Sancho, so you’re thinking, ‘can we really finish above them?’ and that’s before you get to the likes of Leicester and West Ham.
‘If you’re looking at how the season has gone so far, there’s a position available in the top four for whoever wants to grab it. Man Utd are wobbling at the moment, West Ham are looking consistent.
‘I still think it’s a big test for Arsenal and the next fixtures in the coming weeks could tell us a lot more. If Arsenal pick up a few injuries then they could slip away again, but if everyone stays fit then the momentum could carry on.
‘My gut feeling is that they’ll just miss out on top four, but I hope I’m wrong!’
Of course, many would find it difficult not to agree with what Winterburn is saying, whilst many would be happy to see the club back in European football at the first time of asking, although those same fans will want to see UEFA Champions League football back at the Emirates Stadium as quickly as possible.
Returning back to Premier League action this upcoming weekend, Arsenal will host Liverpool and if they can get a result against the Merseyside giants, then many will be buoyed by what the future could provide them with.
