The challenges of being an Arsenal fan in New Zealand

Being an Arsenal fan can be one of the greatest feelings in the world, however it can be as equally as frustrating as well.

There is nothing better than being able to support the club you love when they take to the field at the Emirates Stadium, or when on an away day, although the unpredictability that the Gunners continue to provide us with can sometimes make it a huge challenge.

For instance, it can be rather hard to know just what we are going to get when Mikel Arteta’s side take to the pitch with each matchday, thus making it rather hard at times to trust them when using the Betway sign up offer that can help to enhance our sports betting experiences with our favourite team.

One thing we saw recently was the unity amongst all football fans, with many angered by the proposals that were put forward regarding the infamous European Super League; something that has led to many Arsenal fans believing is the final nail in the coffin for Stan Kroenke and his Kroenke Sports & Entertainment business, with many hoping that Spotify co-owner and avid Arsenal fan, Daniel Ek, will rid the club of if he is able to make a successful takeover bid.

However, things could be argued to be a little more challenging for our Arsenal fans that are located in New Zealand, especially when it comes down to following the daily events and everything that supporting a club as big as Arsenal should mean.

The main challenge undoubtedly is the timezone difference that they face, as matches can often be played in the middle of the night for them. For instance, there is an 11-hour difference between the Kiwi nation and GMT, meaning a Saturday kickoff at 3 pm will take place at 2 am on Sunday morning for them. A match on Sunday at 4:30 pm or at 8 pm will mean Monday morning viewing at 3:30 am and 7 am respectively; unsociable hours for Gunners who have to start their workweek on that day as the vast majority of us.

Furthermore, other challenges include rarely being able to see the team in action live in the flesh, with it costing a small fortune for those of us located in the surrounding areas, let alone the fact that air travel, hotel accommodation and every other cost that may be incurred on top of a ticket will need to be accounted for.

However, despite the challenges of being an Arsenal fan in New Zealand, their voice is heard as much as anyone else’s who supports this top football club.
