Arsenal top the Premier League in one regard

One might have to travel back to New Year’s Eve in 2016 to see the last time Arsenal actually topped the Premier League. It seems like ages ago but still, the Gunners lead the way in one regard after all. Of course, Arsenal are well renowned for their entertaining style of play one can barely find anywhere else. Hence it’s no wonder the North London side top the League in terms of season ticket prices.
Watching good football might come in easy but to watch a mix of entertaining yet extravagant display of abilities on show doesn’t come cheap – especially at the Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal have the most expensive season ticket prices in the Premier League in 2019/20, despite freezing prices for the fifth season in succession.
According to SeatPick, the Gunners’ cheapest adult season ticket is £891 – £96 more expensive than the next highest price at Tottenham. Spurs have also frozen prices in 2019/20.
A spokesperson for Arsenal explained:
“Our season ticket is a 26 game season ticket, so any comparison with other clubs would need to have that context.
“There have been no increases to general admission prices in 10 out of the last 14 seasons.
“We continue to offer around 26,000 tickets from £10 for each Carabao Cup home game and subsidize away ticket prices by £4. Membership fees also remain unchanged.”
Seven clubs have increased their ticket prices from last season, 12 clubs have frozen prices and Southampton is the only club to have reduced season ticket prices.
Arsenal’s cheapest season ticket might be £96 more expensive than the next highest price at Tottenham but that figure seems to be justified when a closer look is given at the situation. The most expensive season ticket for Tottenham currently stands at £1,995 which only covers 19 Premier League matches. In the same vein, Arsenal’s most expensive season ticket price goes at £2755 but spans a more respectable 26 games including some cup ties.
And considering the highest priced single ticket at Tottenham goes for £98, the cost to watch seven extra games will come at an added £686. Which when added to the £1,995 fee, amounts to £2681, which is very close to the Gunners season ticket figure as well. Not to forget the more value the Arsenal season ticket entails as it contains some cup ties in the mix.
On a general note though, it still points out the undeniable fact that the cost of watching football in the Premier League still comes at a far cry. Expensive and still boasting the most viewership are part of many factors that make people call the Premier League “the best League in the world”. Put into comparison, season tickets to watch Borussia Dortmund cost £184. Yes, £184. Meaning an Arsenal season ticket holder would easily buy 15 Borussia Dortmund season tickets (at the same price as well). Seems incredible when given more thought.

Cheapest ticket at Tottenham? £795.
All the atmospheric potential of a huge, single-tiered end behind the goal rendered irrelevant by exclusionary pricing. Looks great on TV though. https://t.co/CL8XVjGbsA

And how ironic is it that the Emirates Stadium only hosts 60,260 capacity compared to Signal Iduna Park at 81,365 capacity. It’s well over a decade since the Gunners upgraded from their old home at Highbury, moving into the new 60,000+ seater stadium a few yards down the road and they can only hope that the expensive ticket prices translate to quality results on the pitch as well.
