From Arsenal.com:

MATCH POSTPONED

Further to a huge deluge of snow in north London starting over Emirates Stadium at 11.38am, the match referee Lee Mason made the decision at 12.07pm to postpone today’s match.

Approximately three inches of snow fell over this half hour period and there continues to be heavy snowfall with no apparent let up.

All tickets purchased for this match will be valid for the re-arranged fixture.

Details of the rearranged fixture will be communicated in due course.

anyone else hear that nordveit is supposed to be leaving arsenal next month? i read that on thursday or friday and thought you guys would have discussed it by now. apparently, he’s supposed to sign for a bundesliga team (the team name escapes me right now). i think it’s the team that bob bradley’s son plays for.

can’t say that i blame him as, despite all of our defensive woes, he can’t even get on the bench at arsenal. the guy can play anywhere on the back line or as a dm but wenger doesn’t appear to fancy him. it’s easy to say that wenger’s an idiot for letting him go but who’s willing say that wenger’s not a good judge of talent? maybe the kid’s not good enough. some of us thought senderos and almunia were good enough. i thought nacer barazite and denilson were good enough. who knew, right?

it’s like i always say; no one really knows but time always tells.

I have always rated Nordveit and he definitely has leadership potential. He is a very mature youngster and has shown this by his performances for his national team and if I am not mistaken, was captain of U-21 at 18 years old.

Like Vela, I thought he would become an integral part of our youth movement. I was surprised that he did not feature more this season and I wish him all the best. I still think he is the real thing. His passing is excellent and he is the only one on the AFC squad who produces a Pique type pass up front. I

Obviously, only time will tell whether Arsene is right or wrong.

Nordveit was never given a chance.

This is a kid who played a season at Nuremberg as a DM … yet when he came back he had to sit behind Craig Eastmond! Inexplicable!

Another promising kid f%cked over (like Merida and Diarra before him) so that the nonsense players like Eboue, Denilson and Eastmond can have more minutes.

      Shame.

Hold on a second the case with Nordtveit is not a case of Arsenal not wanting him – Gazidis has been trying to get a 3 year extension done with the lad only to have the talks collapse in the last few weeks.

The talks never got back on track and the club made the decision to get something from him. Curiously the only club interested in him is that other Borussia (with the M). No other club is coming up for him.

I know its easy to blame Wenger or the club but remember to get the whole story before you do so.

Isn’t Nordveit, because of his age, a casualty of the FA 25 man rule?

For the past 3-4 years, our biggest dilemma(at Arsenal) has been injuries to core players, ALL season long. Those coming off the bench are young and inexperienced, or too old and physically past their prime.

Obviously, the one year out on loan failed to improve his evaluation with the manager.

how about a T-shirt with Wenger’s face in middle of the
Underground circle (and that line thru it)…
and change the “ARE” to …
    AREN’T…

as in Arsene, you AREN’T my Arsenal.
    :silly:

dissapointed there was no Arsenal football when I woke up.

we signed an 18 year old Japanese player.
    yaaaaaaaaaawn.

who was the other Asian player we signed about 7 or 8 years ago?
was nicknamed T-shirt, because we brought him in to sell shirts. Wouldn’t be surprised if this was similar… we can sell lots of shirts in Japan.

How about an audacious bid for Carlos Tevez?
How about a seasoned tough Central Midfielder who’s main interest is defending?

    nah.
we’re deep. we’ve made great strides.
    yaaaaawn.

can’t wait for those Barcelona fixtures.
should be fun to see us played off the pitch again.

Arsene. Wake me up when you get a grip on reality or get serious about WINNING.

Thanks….Well, I hope I’m not the only one who ordered T-shirts…..(Or maybe I just get priority and/or a personalized message….)

C’mon people….Support the site (and DAG) even if you can’t support the manager or the players!

Other than the 2 today, the city game the only one with a chance of going ahead. Rest off.. Bit of a bummer

Arsenal have a new midfielder – 18year old from Japan Ryo Miyaichi will be joining the squad after the championships for his school team are finished.

He had previously been with the club on trial

    • OziKenyan 18 December, 2010 at 11:53 Log in to Reply

Ye just read that. Never heard of him… What position?

Also Wellington Silva’s permit application denied. The same thing happened, apparently, when we tried to get the permit for Ronaldinho, leading him to play… elsewhere instead

Poor Tony Pullis….. wasted his pre match “mind game” for nothing.

  8. HighburyterraceSteve 18 December, 2010 at 10:41 Log in to Reply

Well, count me as bummed out by the cancellations. I think we needed the Stoke match to get a little more confidence/home form before Chelsea’s arrival. Also, it would have been a good chance for the recently returned (Cesc, RVP, Walcott) to show that they’re ready for more than short cameos. I was also looking forward to Sneezy catching all those Delap throw-ins….

Long term, the upcoming fixture congestion SHOULD work in our favor as the quality over our entire squad is perhaps better than Chelsea/Man U, even if our top 11-14 don’t quite match up.

Another argument for some sort of Winter break, perhaps right in this period….At the very least, the Club should give the boys a few days off to fly home and see their families…

  9. arsesession 18 December, 2010 at 10:22 Log in to Reply

Chelsea v. ManU also called off.

Break for Chelsea – as its more time for their older players to regain health and fitness.

ManU already have a make up with an away match at Blackpool……so the upcoming fixtures (with FA Cup) will place a strain on the depth of their roster.
