Emiliano Martinez should be sold if an acceptable offer is received

Not many at Arsenal would have been considering whether to accept an offer for Emiliano Martinez and whether to actually allow him to leave the club permanently this summer.

The Argentine ‘keeper has been on a number of loans throughout his tenure at the Emirates Stadium, however 2020 has certainly been his year on the field for the Gunners.

Making his way into the first-team following the injury to Bernd Leno against Brighton and Hove Albion, many would not have expected for the South American to produce the kind of performances that he did, which included helping the Gunners to lift the FA Cup and the Community Shield.

Those performances have attracted interest that may not have previously been there, whilst the return to fitness from Leno will likely see Martinez have to settle for a deputy role once again – something he may not want to do after finally getting a taste of the bright lights that the Premier League has to offer. Bettors can get their own taste of the bright lights when they play real money casino games.

Aston Villa are one side said to be extremely interested in making a move for the ‘keeper and are thought to have made an offer close to the £20 million asking price the Gunners have. With that in mind, perhaps the South American should be sold.

Arsenal have been blessed with two good goalkeepers for the first time in a very long time, as finding a replacement for Jens Lehmann proved incredibly difficult, however fellow German, Leno, certainly looks to be the man to replace him sufficiently.

Let’s not forget – Leno was probably Arsenal’s Player of the Season if Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang had not runaway with the award because of his importance. The German goalkeeper was instrumental in a number of matches with a number of saves prior to his injury and he managed to bail the Gunners out on so many occasions, helping the club actually achieve their rather mediocre finish in the Premier League. As mentioned, the club finally have two quality goalkeepers available to them, which is something not many clubs can boast, however there is usually a reason as to why that is the case.

A quality ‘keeper that is still in his prime is hardly going to want to sit on the bench and wait for his chance every week after proving that he has what it takes to be a number one. The interest that he would have generated from other clubs with his performances will likely mean teams will be able to provide him with the football he wants, which then makes it difficult to turn a move away down.

Arsenal have had a supposedly limited transfer fund over the years and have perhaps been left behind in the transfer market over recent years as they can not necessarily pay for the talent the club should be attracting.

If a bid that matches, or is close to the asking price for Martinez is received, it should be accepted as it can be used to bring in a player in a needed area of the field, whilst picking up a reliable second-choice can be an inexpensive fee as loans and short-term contract deals appear favourable.
