English football is often unmatched, unrivaled, and peculiar. One of the greatest proofs of this is the world-known Arsenal team. Even though the title of North Londoners might be in a drought currently, their crowning achievement is indisputable. Arsenal players made the club known as the greatest Premier League team ever and that fame is unmatched. The matches from 2003 to 2004 made them stand apart from the rest and achieved the name “Invincibles”. But was it always so smooth? Let’s find out what curiosities have taken place in the history of this magnificent football team throughout its history and how bookmakers dealt with all that.

The Best Matches by Arsenal When Led by Arsene Wenger

At the end of the 2017/18 football season, Arsene Wenger left Arsenal after having trained the players for nearly 22 years. It would be fair to admit that Wenger raised the club’s stature palpably. What interesting matches did they have during those years? What cases were nominal for bookmakers? Let’s see them one by one.

The First Victory

The confident 4:0 victory that Arsenal achieved over Everton in 1998 secured the club’s early victory in the Premier League. And this first trophy was especially important to Arsene Wenger. In only two weeks, the Gunners would win the FA Cup and over 15 titles during the next 20 years. So, we can assume, that this victory set a start for the notable playing career of the club.
By the way, at the end of February 1998, the vast majority of bookmakers stopped taking bets on the title since Manchester United had already established a 13-point lead on the chasing pack. However, they must have regretted it badly!

13 Victories in a Row

The second victory of Arsenal at FA Cup in 2002 was ended with 13 victories in a row. Arsenal’ main competitor was Manchester United and winning it (1:0) was real proof of Arsenal’s might. And as Wenger once said himself, they aimed at showing their power and did it perfectly! At this time, too, most bookmakers either overestimated Manchester United’s power or doubted Arsenal’s determination. And since the odds were against the latter, those fans who had bet on Arsenal were pleased to get significant wins.

The Dazzling Victory Over Inter

It was Wenger’s dream to win at UEFA Champions League. And he first had a chance to do it with Arsenal in 2003/04. To pave their way to success they were to beat Inter Milan. They first lost in the match Inter – Arsenal with the 0:3 results, yet later managed to achieve a stunning victory – 1:5! Wenger’s team reached to quarter-finals where they lost to Chelsea.

However, the bookmakers still hadn’t believed in the victory of Arsenal and their odds of winning were much lower than those of Inter. Perhaps this made Arsenal’s victory so sweet!
