    Well it could be worse. We could be the spuds:

    -A manager that’s only there because England didn’t consider him
    -Their best CM more than likely gone (more likely than RVP)
    -Their only truly effective striker going back to his parent club and being unable to afford him
    -Bale probably might be looking to leave
    -No CL financial help (yes yes, not like we do anything with the money that we get but Spurs would have and now they don’t have that option)
    -The crushing sense of despair that comes from the way this year has gone for them so far.

    Small victories..

      @OziKenyan, Ozi.
      When are we going to stop finding comfort in what Tottenham hasn’t achieved?
      as opposed to what WE HAVEN’T?

      I could really care less what Spurs do… and actually, maybe their finishing above us would actually
      for the Club to DO SOMETHING RADICIAL!!!! like attempting to WIN a trophy.

      I’m just so tired of this non-sense… sick of Wenger… sick of us selling stars every off-season, and the SAGA that goes on before the sale too…

      its freaking painful.

        @stag133,

        Oh the pain that comes from the pettiness of having the spuds as our only source of joy is immense. But it is sadly all we have at the moment. So, like I said:

        Small victories…

    I too noticed a happy Ashley Cole celebrate yet another success in his career of continuing success.
    Of all ex-Arsenal players perhaps Cole best highlights Wenger’s post-invincibles failure. There is no need to retrace what we know of Cole’s departure, suffice rather to note that he remains a fullback of exquisite quality and wins lots of trophies whilst we languish in famine and find new and mind-numbing ways to rewrite reality.

    We can see that winning is not about money alone. It is about the mental strength that Wenger talks a lot about but is utterly bereft in his latter-day teams.

    DAG I don’t have twitter but I read your tweets anyway, so a quick question about your view about buying smartly with the occasional big money signing. Say we did (Doubt we’ll get all 4) get Podolski, Kagawa, M’Vila and Sakho (I’ve heard rumours about him not being happy at PSG and Arsenal interested), would you consider that a successful window? Seeing as we’d get 3 £10 million or less signings and then the big 17 million one (M’Vila – I trust your sticking to your story in the wake of all these articles about us baulking at the price). Would you consider these 4 potential acquisitions as smart/prudent buying – that would hopefully build up our first team and squad to help us win things again.

    And another quick question, has Bould been given the Green light to go to work on the defence and hope we don’t have another Norwich at the Emirates next season and in the future?

    As a coup-de-grace, Ashley Cole, who Arsenal fans took to calling Cashley has now won his CL to add to his several EPL, FA cup and CC medals. Plus he has been on over double his Arsenal wages for over six years now.

    His decision to NOT accept the same wages as Almunia and Squilaci was VERY, VERY, VERY WISE!!!

    Maybe next time we play Chelsea, our fans could stop booing him. He would laugh long and hard if we do. Since he’s gone, he has won EVERYTHING whilst making bank. We, on the other hand have won NOTHING.

    Booing him would be incredibly hilarious to any neutral.

    At some point, we’ll have to find that every time a star player leaves us, maybe it is not all their fault, maybe the way our club does business is flawed.

    If our club had ANY sense whatsoever, we’d call RvP in a office, and offer him 250k per week (or whatever wage would make him the highest paid in the EPL) and PROMISE to go after a minimum of THREE solid players (not including Podolski). That offer coupled with his general love for the club “might” persuade him to stay.

    Players want only two things, they want to win and they want money. We’ll offer RvP a pathetic 110kpw, no guarantees of new players, but a promise of a 3rd place “trophy”.

    He’ll laugh and BOLT.

    • OziKenyan 21 May, 2012 at 03:09 Log in to Reply

      @Fred,

      Yup.

      I think, IF we meet his wage demands, sign a bunch of good players (starters in their team that can deliver NOW) then we mayy have about a 50% chance of retaining RVP. If we don’t do those things I’d say he’s more likely than not gone.

      City winning the league and Chelsea winning champs league has not helped our case as it highlights the success of players who walked out on us. It gets RVP imagining success at other clubs (more than he already was) and it’s dreams like that that can easily be the deciding factor

    This last one week has completely SHREDDED the Wenger philosophy AND about there being no possible replacement for Wenger.

    1) Man City wins league. Re-destroying any concept that teams that do not do it “the right way according to Wenger” can’t possibly win (LOL!)

    2) Nasri, Toure, Clichy all win titles after leaving Arsenal. Destroying the Wenger supporters’ cry that nobody leaves and wins. So those players have now left, GOT MORE MONEY AND ALSO WON!!! All our current players have taken note! Including Mr. Robin Van Persie.

    3) Chelsea win. Again reiterating the Man City thing. As a club you better do whatever is possible to WIN NOW! No excuses. No leaving extra money in the bank and making profits off transfers WHILE claiming that there are no players in the whole of Europe better than what you’ve got.

    4) Roberto Di Matteo!
    Every single Wenger lover claims that there is NOBODY who can say anything to the Wenger-meister because NONE have done what Wenger has done apparently.

    Well, let’s look at Di Matteo’s pedigree here.
    He coached Milton Keynes Dons and was FIRED by West Freaking Brom!!!!

    Yet he’s gone and turned around an aging, injury ravaged, suspension riddled old fart of a team and achieved what Wenger will NEVER achieve. Win a CL.

    That nukes the retarded idea, that Wenger (or any other manager) is irreplaceable! LOL!

    I am CERTAIN, there are coaches at Arsenal (possibly Bould) who knows the club, loves the club yet can see ALL the flaws of the club. Di Matteo had that with Chelsea. All the major Italian clubs have a promoted coach chain too. Barca do it. Arsenal can.

    Wenger is VERY replaceable. And he must be replaced.

    5) Robin Van Persie is LEAVING Arsenal for sure.
    He LOVES the club. But he hasn’t won a REAL trophy YET. And he is 29!!
    He can TRIPLE his salary at any other club EASILY and also WIN stuff.

    There is NO way ANY of our (few) good players will look at what is happening around the world of football and not completely lose heart in the Wenger “philosophy”. “Immoral” teams like Chelsea and Man City are winning and their players making triple!

    Let’s face facts it will be completely illogical and idiotic for Van Persie to stay with Arsenal on it’s current Wenger path.

    • stag133 19 May, 2012 at 23:50 Log in to Reply

      @Fred, while much of what you stated is true…
      you won’t get acceptance of much (if any) of it, from the AKBers….. there is virtually nothing
      that can be said or happen that will change their mindset.

      ManCity win the League…
      and
      Chelsea win the FA Cup (which Wenger could care less about)… and CL (which is the only thing Wenger wants)
      DOUBLE.

      The big winners this year are the teams that spent the money… Chelsea and City.
      United have been DOMINANT since the EPL started…. and you can guarantee they will be bringing in
      some QUALITY players this off-season (despite folks still saying they are in trouble financially! what a laugh).

      Not a good day for Arsenal, but its worse for Tottenham, who just lost out on CL Football…. again.

      And, its sad to say, I agree with Fred wholeheartedly on RVP.
      I simply can’t see him staying at Arsenal… we’d have to refuse to sell him, and make him play out
      his contract, which would be an absolute NIGHTMARE… he could refuse to play, he could fake injury so he didn’t get hurt, he could turn in the arm-band and cause havoc in the locker room.
      All terrible situations.

      • George 20 May, 2012 at 08:18 Log in to Reply

        @stag133,
        You talk about United not being in financial trouble. Why then, do they get Scholes to stay on instead of going out and spending the money they quite clearly have, on someone like Sneijder?

        • stag133 21 May, 2012 at 06:51

          @George, George.
          Scholes played a better midfield THIS SEASON, than EVERY ARSENAL PLAYER except perhaps Arteta.
          He has this thing called “experience”.. and he’s a “winner”… he brings intangibles to the team.

          United were EQUAL ON POINTS with City.
          you realize this, right? accumulated the same total. So, while City lifted the trophy, United had the same season they did!

          If they had bought Sneijder… they’d have won the league by 10 points.
          They won’t make that mistake again.
          Because unlike at Arsenal… when ManU don’t win a trophy, its a BAD SEASON… they don’t wallow in it, they get on with WINNING a trophy again as soon as possible… they ACT…
          They don’t bitch… they don’t make up new “trophies”… or new reasons why its better to get 2nd than win the FA Cup or whatever Wenger is saying this week…

          Please, stop with the United are in financial trouble crap… its idiotic.
          Their starting 11 when they played ManCity was almost the same cost.
          161 Million to City’s 169 Million.

    Hopefully after all they’ve got through this seasons CL Chelsea have used up all the magic in the hat, they have battled well tbh and they’ve worked hard for it, so I don’t discourage them from it. Don’t know how Arsenal fans, and Jack Wilshere, could cheer this is as if it some national triumph by a plucky english underdog. Jeesus, there’s a time for supporting an English team and it comes in a month and its in Poland & Ukraine, not Munich. Can understand people laughing at the Spuds heading into the Europa again, but why were cheering another London club winning the CL before us is utter madness.

    Still spending over £1 billion in however many years really should get you the Champions league shouldn’t it – hear that Stan?

    Ugh, cannot bear Terry lifting the trophy, why should he be allowed to, whats he done to deserve lifting it? If I was Fat Frank, Id be raging right now

    • stag133 19 May, 2012 at 23:54 Log in to Reply

      @George, what has John Terry done to deserve lifting the CL trophy?
      Do you follow other teams at all? You realize John Terry has been a massive part of what Chelsea has accomplished in recent history? And I’d say the other players are ECSTATIC to have won, as a team…. and they like John Terry… they don’t hate him.

      • George 20 May, 2012 at 06:52 Log in to Reply

        @stag133,
        The fact is, John Terry could’ve got Chelsea eliminated from the CL with his little “Im a hardman Im gonna knee you in the back” act, and he was suspended for the final, so why he should be able to lift the trophy is beyond me. So Alaba, Badstuber and Gustavo were a masive part of Bayerns run to the final, do they deserve runners up medals?

        • stag133 21 May, 2012 at 06:54

          @George, fortunately, you don’t decide who lifts trophies… Terry IS CHELSA FC.
          He’s been a massive part of their club’s success.
          The club and players LOBBIED FOR HIM to be able to lift the Cup.
          That’s all you need to know.

          Somehow, you CARE that some other team’s player lifted the CL trophy after they won!!
          I say good for him. He deserves to lift it, for all he’s done at CFC.

    Just watched West Ham beat Blackpool…. to make it back to the Prem!
    Good match to watch… and another London team in the Prem, makes it easier to go to a Prem match in London!

    Hope Bayern bury Chelsea today… don’t want them to win the CL…
    even though at the moment, we are MILES from ever getting back to that Final.

    Just seen Sunderland have released Craig Gordon. With Almunia, Fabianski and Mannone probably all off, wouldn’t be a good idea to get him in. He’ll be free, he’s got a lot of experience and he’ll give Szczesny good competition for a place. For me its a no-brainer

    • stag133 19 May, 2012 at 17:16 Log in to Reply

      @George, why do we want a keeper Sunderland released on a free?
      doesn’t that say something about him?
      We’d be fine with either Mannone or Fab … as a back up to Sneezy.
      i don’t see that as our major problem.

      • George 19 May, 2012 at 19:22 Log in to Reply

        @stag133,
        He is a good keeper, the reason Sunderland released him was because of his age. But this means he could be a mentor to Szczesny and push him as a back up. Plus he has EPL experience and is a lot better than Fabianski/Mannone

        • stag133 19 May, 2012 at 23:56

          @George, GEORGE!!!!
          He played 1 MATCH ALL SEASON for SUNDERLAND!
          He’s been injured for the past 2 SEASONS!
          What the hell would we want that for!
          Gordon has been the biggest spending blunder Sunderland have EVER made.
          They spend crazy money on him, and he is now behind Mignolet in the pecking order.
          I’ll pass on Sunderland’s back up.

      @Faisal Tozo, yes, he will, but its going to be at ManCity, after we sell him for 35 Million!

      He isn’t signing at Arsenal, unless the offseason transfers arrive at Arsenal QUICKLY.
      What the hell would he sign at Arsenal for, if he can get more money and play for a club that has ambition to win … if he goes elsewhere.

      the clubs entire attitude has to change NOW… or he’s gone too.

    the inability for arsenal to sign good players especially selling thier good players without replacement is costing the team dreams of lifting trophies. lf they can’t buy, they should not sell. besides they should look at the defence and midfeilders and fortified that area, it will help alot. players that have character. one of two supersters. thanks.
