Match preview: Arsenal considered slight underdogs in Leicester City contest

Arsenal travel to the King Power Stadium on Saturday in the Premier League’s early kick-off, although it seems Mikel Arteta’s side are slight underdogs heading into the contest judging by what some of the bookmakers are saying at the moment.

Arsenal are priced 15/8 on Betway Sportsbook to come away with the win, although that is slightly longer than the odds that have been provided to The Foxes and Brendan Rodgers team.

Of course, there will always be an explanation for such a possible outcome, though, and it could be down to the mixture of results that have been experienced in recent outings within the league.

The Gunners will come into the game at the weekend on a high after being able to progress in the Carabao Cup after dispatching Leeds United in a competition that will perhaps provide them with their best opportunity of silverware this season, especially as Manchester City were knocked out.

However, the club’s Premier League form has been a little patchy in recent weeks and October has not been the most favourable of months for the Emirates Stadium outfit.

Some would suggest Arsenal were lucky to come away with a point against Brighton & Hove Albion whilst many would find it hard to disagree with that statement when it came down to the 2-2 draw that they had with Crystal Palace at home.

Arteta’s side did get things back on track, though, in their last Premier League game as they managed to brush Aston Villa aside with a comprehensive 3-1 victory last Friday, thus making it six games in a row unbeaten in England’s top-flight – their last defeat was the embarrassing 5-0 defeat away to Manchester City.

Leicester City, though, will present the Gunners with a tough challenge on Saturday lunchtime as Rodgers’ side are currently unbeaten in their last four league games, although that has also featured two draws and two wins.

The draws came against Burnley and Crystal Palace, whilst their wins have arrived since with victories against Manchester United and Brentford. The Foxes will also be in a buoyant mood as they managed to seal their place in the next round of the Carabao Cup as well at the expense of Brighton in midweek.

Arsenal could have concerns ahead of the fixture in regards to illness as a number of key players have been hit by the bug going around recently, with Ben White the latest to have apparently suffered, whilst Kieran Tierney is considered a doubt (ankle).

Leicester should be able to call upon Jamie Vardy despite the knee injury he picked up against Brentford, whilst a number of men should return following their midweek win.
