YAMACAST S2E16 (World Cup Edition): the one that almost wasn’t

Wow, it never is this hard to put together a podcast. If coordinating interviews isn’t hard enough, the physical editing of the piece can be a sapping experience. Today, thought seemed to be to the extreme, as at every turn it looked like I would never get this done.
First, I had to take my editing on the road. Because of Real Life putting content together has been a difficult proposition. So today I took my laptop loaded with a managed IT support software as well as my editing software with me. It was going to be a light day with everyone focused on the upcoming US v Germany World Cup tie. I figured I’d get the editing done.
Everything looked great until I noticed I hadn’t put up the right files on some of the essentials of the podcast. You’ll notice that this intro is slightly different than the normal intro. No biggie though. So after getting everything edited, feeling confident, I log on to the site, but wait, my domain name expired and I couldn’t get access. OY!! So after heading to re-up my domain name I now had to wait for the DNS servers to propogate. Now, they tell you this is normally a 24 hour process but if you done this long enough it seems to take place in mere minutes. Except today. For some reason it seemed like it was going to take the full 24 hours.
So after my site restores I think I’m all set. Ah no. Now my site had been subject to a brute force attack so I couldn’t log on for 30 minutes. Then the file never fully downloaded.
Well, a few hours later and well after much of the content we discuss, the podcast is ready. Whew. I am if anything, determined. The good news is the talk is great. We have a great guest in Danny Karbassiyoon. If you don’t know Danny, he’s a former Gunner, now Arsenal scout in the US and one of the founders of Soccer Without Limits (SWOL.) Danny has a keen eye for talent it seems as he is credited with the Gideon Zelalem and Joel Campbell discoveries.
What Danny and I chat about are this great World Cup and the performances of some of Arsenal’s players in it.
So, pardon us if the quality seems a little off, given all the issues of the day, I couldn’t give it all the editing-love I normally do. But if you like good conversation you’re going to get it with Danny.
Thank you as always for your support. We’ll see you soon. Until then, Stay Goonerish.
