    Stag –

Has there ever been a case where any manager has told the truth about their transfer dealings?

Go back a couple of weeks ago at the share holders meeting (or whatever that is) he said we would be buying in January – just not where as it would depend on the team’s progress.

So a month or so ago we are buying and now we aren’t. Until January is over we won’t know for sure. So any righteous indignation on signings is a little premature.

The fact of the matter is – if Arsenal are a buying club this January – the last thing the club wants is for it to be known. If Arsenal are viewed by any selling club as desperate for a position, it only goes to inflating the price of players. If you don’t believe it – ask another source – like Fergie who said as much.

Given that there are already reports surfacing of interest in a few CBs, it may be very well that the club wants to dispel any notion it is looking into players.

I place no belief in anything about transfers until the window is closed (officially).

      I’ll buy that. Pun intended.
But I can easily see Wenger digging in his heels and not buying ANYONE… saying I believe in THIS SQUAD.

I could not believe the El Clasico scoreline. When has a Mourinho-coached team ever let in 5 goals? After the way he handled Barca in last year’s CL semi I never saw this coming.

Honestly that did not look any Mourinho team that I have ever seen. They didn’t even bother to get off the bus.

Though I have to admit, watching Puyol and Xavi get pushed in the face was kind of fun to watch – loud mouth twats

    GREAT NEWS.
Arsene Wenger plans NO SIGNINGS in January.

    Awesome.
    I love this guy.
Obviously. We don’t need anyone coming in.
We are just great the way we are.

I hope everyone is buying lots of Arsenal items for the Christmas
season, as we need to make sure we fill the clubs coffers with our
money… the profits need to increase.

Hopefully we can sell Cesc, and make a shit-load of ca$h.
I mean, Barcelona NEED him and WANT him.
They have to improve their team, because they only lead their league,
and beat the shit out of Real Madrid, their biggest rival.

We’re already in the Top 4… so we are good.
I know we blew a 2 goal lead to Spurtz at home, but so what.
We are Arsenal and Arsene Wenger knows.

That wasn’t a game, it was a fucking show. That was probably the most phenomenal football I’ve ever seen. In fairness, Real Madrid’s fullbacks were very poor. They got caught ball watching and were responsible for all but one of the goals. On the strength of what we saw today, Clichy is better than both of Real Madrid’s fullbacks.

Speaking of Clichy and the first Villa goal on Saturday, I hate to see players do what Clichy did but I understand. Clichy’s guy was Ashley Young. If the theme in training, after two straight defeats, was stay with your guy, what should he do? I know that’s hypothetical but these things influence player actions. If Clichy challenged that guy and the shot was saved but the rebound fell to Young who goes on to score, people would be going ape shit about why Clichy didn’t leave that guy for Song or someone else and stay with his man. It’s all circumstantial; such is the nature of being the goat.

Regardless, I absolutely hate to see defenders backing away from the ball. If you’re in a position to press, you close the ball down very forcibly, not recklessly, and dictate proceedings. Don’t let an opponent settle the ball and pick which side of the goal he wants to shoot on. Even if you can’t win the ball, force him to rush his shot or turn away from the goal. Give him the most difficult option. Never let him choose.

Agreed with the Clichy comment 100%.

I don’t necessarily think RM backs were poor, but rather that on this day Barca was unstoppable. I would take Ramos over Clichy on any given day.

Like you said, it was the most scintillating display of football I have seen in years. RM was made to look like a bunch of schoolboys, albeit they being one of the top 5 club teams in the world. Absolutely amazing.

no matter what he does, its Clichy’s fault.
      Plain and simple.
Same as no matter what Denilson does positively, it doesn’t matter.

Arsenal’s defending has been poor of late… the entire back 4 as a unit has been to blame.

When is Vermaelen supposed to be back?

Jaw dropping score-line in Spain. I am sure that any pent up frustrations against Jose was bellowed out in full glory at Camp Nou. How I used to dream that Arsenal would have won by that score over Jose’s Chelsea or Fergie’s Man Utd. But right now, any victory over Chelsea or Man Utd would be welcome, even if by a single goal.

I am sure after Barca’s win, the text messages to Cesc were in full swing. The only way Arsenal can avoid the inevitable departure is to start winning and producing some of the football that made the invincibles such a joy to watch.

    • stag133 29 November, 2010 at 23:42 Log in to Reply

surely, the messages are … hey Cesc, come on over in January, the weather will be mild, and we’re going to be lifting trophies here in the Spring!

and the way he’s been injured and less that stellar Cesc, take the money and run with it before its too late!

    • CaribKid 29 November, 2010 at 23:59 Log in to Reply

One word sums it up “WOW”.

      • sachin 30 November, 2010 at 03:26 Log in to Reply

Yes indeed. Also, it was remarkable that the Madrid players didn’t follow instructions properly. Only Ramos went out and got himself sent off when the result was settled but Alonso decided to disobey his boss and stayed on the field. Go figure :)

    Like the shirts DAG.

    Yes. Nip.
Someone said Barcelona wasn’t winning anything this year.
Barca PLAY and LAUGH Real Madrid off the pitch today!
    easy as pie.
    4-0 HUMILIATION.

They aren’t going to win anything this year?
    That is HILARIOUS.

    Sorry Jose.
Better buy some players in January.

I guess Arsenal need to buy a new coach, a special one, and then spend 100 million of dollars to lose to Barca 5-0.

Barca played a technically and tactically (almost) perfect match; amazing stuff.

    • CaribKid 29 November, 2010 at 23:53 Log in to Reply

      @stag,

You missed one goal, it was 5-0

      • stag133 30 November, 2010 at 00:50 Log in to Reply

        yes. I did.
they did not stop trying to score! and they added to the goal difference.
        5-0.
        ASS-WHOOPING.

    What an “El Classico” !!!

    World class stuff from Barca.

    Take that, Jose & CR7.

    No wonder Cesc wants out.
