Happy New Year, Happy New Look
Nothing like starting 2012 in our normal position, back in the top four and with some wiggle room eh?
But I guess you are wondering about this new look. That’s right we’re kicking off the new year with a new look and if you haven’t already found out there are some kinks that I am working out. Over the next couple of days I hope to have them all worked out and this site running up in its normal (if what we can do around here can be called normal) way.
So I hope you’ll bear with us as we work out the kinks. Let us know what you think – come on I can take it.
In the mean time, I hope you had a very happy new year and let’s have a great 2012.
Oh I forgot . . . ladies and gentlemen, the transfer window is now open for business.

Yup. Liking the new look better than the old one DAG. Although like I said last time as well, I’ll always prefer a white background-black writing site much more to the opp… Not to take away from what you’ve done. Just providing honest feedback!

First things first, Merry Chrsitmas & a Happy New Year and well done DAG for continuing to polish up the site.
This morning Manchester City continued to show signs of nervous flutters and failed to turn the screws on their neighbours – oh dear. It’s harder than it appears to be a dominant leader. So….
We have done well – 3 points gained and the gap down to 9 points. The QPR game was pretty underwhelming. We passed the ball around, QPR never really looked ominous, our frontmen continued to look a bit too reliant on Van Persie. Nevertheless he obliged and put away the winning goal thanks to a beaut pass from our Russian. Ramsey has a good engine which shines in games like this, altho, his challenge is is impose himself in big games where he has a tendency to look peripheral.
What to do about Theo? Every now and then he does something and rekindles the hope of the English masses – but inbetween – he’s a painfully limited passenger in the team whose main contribution is as a deterent. His pace is a little like the thinking Iraq had nuclear capability – opposition teams are worried by his pace – but…meh…you know…sooner or later teams twig on to the fact that pace-aside Theo lacks the intelligence and skill to make that aspect truely frightening.
A forward line-up with: Gervinho, RvP, Podolski
would be rather interesting and have a few goals in it. Then we’d have Walcott (and Henry) as back-up and we’d look a lot more capable of putting teams and games to the sword.
Podolski’s fee and wages could be covered by selling Chamakh and Arshavin. So the deal would be cost neutral – that would satisfy Wenger.
It would also continue the Germanic flavouring of the squad – RvP, Podolski, Vermaelen & Mertesacker – there’s a mental hardness in that group that is a welcome addition after the years in the wilderness.

I’d add Arteta and Sagna to the German flavours… ANd it does feel good to have it! Never befor ehave i felt mildly comfortable on a 1-goal lead. Long may it continue
Man City, Man U, Chelsea all lose and Spurs tie. Christmas came a bit late this year (or last year)! Rumors of a bid for Podolski too. One can only hope. I’m also hoping that any potential LB isn’t Wayne Bridge.

I can’t remember the last weekend where we were the only big club to capture all available points
@DaAdminGooner, Heh, have we fully discounted Pool then? A bit early to do that I think (the way everyone was doing to us at the start of the season). They’ve got Gerrard back, their owners seem willing spenders and if they start putting some of their chances away, they will be thereabouts come end of the season.
Also, we need to avoid the Arsenal annual season collapse but as Kiwi mentioned above, a new-found mental strength in this side (oh god i sound like Wenger!!!) means I am hopeful we might do just that.
Yesterday I opened the QPR match preview article so I could read it along with all the comments… but I never got around to reading it and when I cam back to day I refreshed the page so I could see all the new comments, and BAM!!!!
There were many more new things than just comments- nice work DAG! The new look of the site is awesome! It’s a nice continuation of events: I got an Arsenal scarf for Xmas, our three biggest rivals dropped points yesterday while we won, and now a nice new look to YAMA. All that’s missing now is some nice transfer activity.

DAG, the new layout looks fantastic, really liking the historical background images – very nice touch. Hopefully I’ll be back posting articles on it in the next few weeks.
As for yesterday though, what a day! United and Chelsea both humbled at home, Spurs drop points from a lead and THE ARSENAL WIN! Absolute perfection.
After a testing 2011 for the Gunners both on and off field, here’s to a much improved and successful 2012.
