The course of any season is a long slow drudge through about 9 months of constant up and downs. For some teams the ups are more than the downs and vice versa. For Arsenal well, its just a roller coaster of chaotic harmony. This season hasn’t a sustained peak or valley – just one after the other and while I always hate a season to end – I am sort of eagerly awaiting a break from this one.

But for now, like always I will look forward to the 90 minutes of glorious frustration an Arsenal match has become (this season). Even in the bad times I just love the club, the game and the overall atmopshere of English football – especially our beloved Arsenal. So even though like many of you I am frustrated with our lack of silverware and success, I put that aside at the start of every match and just watch.

That’s how I’ll approach this match. It’s one that really should be considered a lock in terms of win. But hey, nothing is a lock is it? QPR are already relegated and have nothing to play for. They could come out and as relaxed as they can be give us a very hard time. They certainly aren’t bereft of talent are they? Or they could come out and like pretty much every match this season, stink the joint up.  While the likes of Chelsea and City have shown what bloated spending can do on the positive side of things, QPR has shown the negative side of it all.

Couple that with rotating managers and well, you have a recipe for relegation. Remember QPR only staved off the drop late late into last season.

Arsenal need to win. As much as any match they need the 3 points from this one. A loss will likely put an end to the top 4 this season. It’s not completely impossible but it sure would be damn hard as it would mean the club are dependent on others to get it done. Right now however, its solely in the Gunners hands. If they are to qualify for the Champion’s League they must be as ruthless as they can be and not look past any of the opponents that remain.

Since the loss to Tottenham, Arsenal have been one of the most consistent sides. They’ve not lost since then and they’ve allowed only 4 goals. Expand your outlook to the 2-0 loss to Manchester City and Arsenal have only lost 1 and let in 9 goals in 12 games. The form they are displaying now would’ve kept them in the title hunt but as we mentioned it’s been one up and down moment after another.

Arsenal are at the frustrating worst when they make stupid mistakes and go all flat. By flat I mean that they make their effort look labored. TDecisions are poor, passing is side to side and backwards without any purpose and the urgency goes missing. When Arsenal look brilliant, its quite the opposite. And you need only look at the first 41 minutes to see what Arsenal can do when the effort is there.

In the end the three points depends on them. It’s not down to Wenger. It’s not down to the board or any of the other things we rail about these days. It comes to the effort the players who go out there and play the match. There certainly is talent enough to do it. We’ve all seen it.  QPR is there for the taking. They’ve been absolutely horrid all season, a mishmash of talent that has never come together. More concerned with their bloated paychecks and egos than actually working together as a team. You wonder had a good manager been in charge of them what the net result would’ve been.

But that’s not our concern. The focus has to be on finishing the season on a high note. Forgetting all the crap we’ve been through. Sure we’ll all pick over the carcass of a season later. That’s what we do. For now though, it’s focus in on supporting the team. The away supporters will be as brilliant as always – that’s no doubt. The twitter faithful will be their usual mishmash of praise, angst and everything in between – and it’s all good.

I hope come 3 weeks we can lament what could’ve been with a hearty laugh and a preverbial wiping of the brow of a narrow escape. But then comes all the joy of the silly season. Woo Hoo.

wild wild times at Manchester United…
    In a 24 hour period…
    Ferguson announces his retirement.
Moyes to be announced as his successor.
Cristiano Ronaldo rumored to be coming back to United.
Wayne Rooney say he wants out of ManU for a fresh start!

and what rumor have I heard about our beloved Arsenal? That the board and Wenger are at odds over the signing of Loic Remy?
The question is, who wants us to sign him, the board or Wenger!

If the club had BALLS… we’d go after Rooney… and Dzeko…
but instead, I think I read we re-signed Rosicky.
What a sick f’n joke. This guy can’t play 3 games in row, for YEARS, and we are going
to reward him with another contract? Utterly ridiculous… that is Arsenal in nutshell.

Sir Alex steps down … retiring from ManU… probably the most successful manager in the history of England…
Who will they bring in to replace him? Moyes? Mourinho?

What better time for Arsene Wenger to step down as manager of Arsenal FC, and we too can take that next step away from the past, and into the future…

our goalkeeper, only just reinstated as the #1 and only because of injury to fabianski, is running his mouth saying how spurs don’t have the quality to finish in the top 4. thanks for giving them extra motivation, assclown.

add to that, there’s this french clown declaring that he’s been better this year than henry and drogba in their first seasons in england.

these kids are losing their damn minds. no one in their right mind would prefer to have giroud over henry or drogba. after last season, no one was even in for giroud, except for arsenal and borussia monchengladbach. that boy needs to know his place. all of them need to shut the fuck up until they actually win something. they haven’t earned the right to talk.

well, when you are told that “winning something” = Top 4
then I am sure they feel like they have a chance to get their “trophy”..
so, they’ve had another banner year at the Emirates.

Arsene and the Board must be shitting their pants after Chelsea beat United at Old Trafford.
If Tottenham manage to beat Chelsea… we’re going to find the Arsenal outside the Top 4, and all that Champions League money goes away… and trying to recruit any “star” players goes away too…

    • joshuad 6 May, 2013 at 15:19 Log in to Reply

surely, they were hoping that chelsea would drop points at united, ensuring proper motivation against tottenham. since chelsea won at old trafford, they don’t need to be spurs.

with that, i expect chelsea to beat spurs at home. they’ll want to secure their champions league future as soon as possible. also, i just can’t see spurs defense keeping chelsea from scoring a quite a few goals.

after the chelsea match, spurs have to battle against relegation fighters in their last two games. anything could happen. arsenal also have wigan this weekend. it will be interesting to see which cool heads prevail.

      • joshuad 6 May, 2013 at 15:21 Log in to Reply

err, wigan and newcastle (relegation battlers).

        • stag133 6 May, 2013 at 16:00

I really would not be shocked if we dropped points against either Wigan or Newcastle. We could drop points against BOTH.

There is an absolute frenzy of motivation for the “relegation” battlers… whilst Arsenal at times can’t be bothered to get up for games you would think were “big games”…

I honestly don’t see Arsenal making the Top 4…
I hope we do, in some sense, because without it, we can’t attract top talent…
but even if we do, we probably won’t try to attract top talent, which is even worse.

        • Ireallydontknow 7 May, 2013 at 06:09

Didnt Liverpool manage to attract Suarez with European football? I’m guessing they used wages to lure him, I guess we dont really do that though.

        • stag133 8 May, 2013 at 15:00

Who knows what attracts a lunatic like Suarez… he’s either bipolar or unstable.

  5. stag133 4 May, 2013 at 21:55 Log in to Reply

    so, ummmm.
who leads the team in BOTH goals scored, and assists this season?

    that’s right… Theo Walcott.

I’d say that means he’s earned his salary…

  6. stag133 3 May, 2013 at 22:51 Log in to Reply

for the record, as I think Josh pointed out…
Arsenal can win every match remaining, and still finish 5th … and outside the CL tourney.
We are NOT in control of our own destiny at all.

If Tottenham win ALL their games, they finish ahead of Arsenal.
If Chelsea win all their games EXCEPT the Tottenham game, they finish ahead of Arsenal.

So, we are hoping Tottenham drop points. Otherwise, we could be on the outside looking in, no matter what we do on the pitch.

    Against QPR?
I see us winning the match with relative ease… should win by 2 or 3 goals.
