arsenal-premier-league-2022-2023-pre-season-review

One of the most anticipated accolades in the 2022/2023 season is the Golden Boot award. With players like Erling Haaland and Darwin Nunez coming to the EPL, the list of contenders has increased. We’re expecting many players to fight for the boot this season. Therefore, it would be a tough one.

If you want to engage in this market in sports betting, you need to know about the different players that can become the top contenders to see who is most likely to win. As it stands, Harry Kane, Heung Min Son, Mohammed Salah, Erling Haaland, and Darwin Nunez are some of the strong contenders this season.

However, with Gabriel Jesus moving to Arsenal, he would be getting lots of game time that would help him get more chances to score plenty of goals. As a result, we think he has a chance to contend for the golden boot. However, we can only tell as the season progresses and draws close to the end.

So, to answer the question if Jesus can contend for the golden boot award, let’s look at the player to see what he brings to the table and how his new team can help him achieve this goal.

Gabriel Jesus Abilities and Experience

If you’ve been following the EPL, especially Manchester City, in the past, you can see that Gabriel Jesus is not your typical striker. He is one of those players that would be part of the build and score with the slightest of chances. The player has incredible abilities to enter pockets of space and convert half chances.

Whenever he is given a chance, he always delivers for the team, and we’ve seen him play in other positions and still find ways to score plenty. He is a top player that would undoubtedly succeed at Arsenal as long as he has the players that work well with him. Undoubtedly, he would continue to deliver at the highest level for the team.

Gabriel Jesus is a joy to watch, and every time he plays, he brings this exciting flair to the table, and his experience is undeniable. He has been part of the team that won the EPL multiple times. He is a serial winner that would contribute to the team’s success once he is given a chance.

His Attacking Partners

At Manchester City, Jesus had to play with the likes of Riyad Mahrez, Raheem Sterling, Phil Foden, Bernando Silva, and Kevin De Bruyne. He had quality attacking partners whenever he was on the pitch. Therefore, connecting with the players was easy as they tried to win different games in the EPL.

With Arsenal, the case is somewhat different as he would be playing with players that are not as massive as the ones at Manchester City. He would have to work harder to get goals with Arsenal, but one thing is sure, he would get to play more freely than when he was at Manchester City.

The Brazilian has flair and can beat players one-on-one, which is what Arsenal needed to make their attack solid. Therefore, we think he would work well with Bukayo Saka, Emile Smith Rowe, Gabriel Martinelli, and Edward Nketiah.

Other Contenders

The golden boot has plenty of contenders that would fight to get the award before the end of the season. Therefore, he would need to work hard if he wants to be part of the top contenders at the end of the season. Harry Kane and Min Son would be part of the frontrunners with Mohammed Salah.

In addition, newcomers Haaland and Nunez would also have a say in the contention, putting them as part of the players that would likely win the award. Aside from that, we expect to get more players fighting for the award, such as Raheem Sterling, Richarlison, and Jamie Vardy.

Arteta’s Tactics

One of the things that would genuinely help Gabriel Jesus is Arteta’s tactics and how he intends to utilize the Brazilian. If he played as the target man, we would expect lesser involvement from Jesus, but he sure would have more chances to claim and score, increasing his chances of winning the golden boot.

In that case, we would expect the player to have some freedom up front as they try to increase their chances of winning different games and qualifying for the UCL. Undoubtedly, Arteta will try to use Jesus in multiple roles to increase their chances of getting the best out of the young Brazilian.

Our Thoughts

Gabriel Jesus is undoubtedly a strong contender for the golden boot because we expect him to score plenty this season. We think he would deliver at the highest level, and once it is time to get to the end, we believe he would be part of the players wrestling to get over the line. In the end, we think Gabriel Jesus would be one of the players to contend for the EPL golden boot.
