Yes, we’re back. AS much as we have tried to stay consistent during the season, we sadly have not been. But it’s all good because good stuff has been happening and it just took us away from producing the podcast for a fortnight.

I swear we’ll hopefully have more time to be churning these out.

You guys have all offered great feedback on the podcast and we hope we continue to meet your needs. So enough of this effusive praise, let me tell you what we’ve got in store.

This week I sit down with a regular guest, Sophie Niccolau, the Soccer Diva (@soccerdiva) and co-host of La Liga lounge. Sophie is a well thought of Gooner who loves her Arsenal and has special place for Olivier “GQ” Giroud.

Sophie and I sit down and talk about the disappointing draw against Everton and the crucial games that begin with today’s Champion’s League tie with Napoli. Why was the draw to Everton disappointing? Because we’re begining to see the mentality shift we’ve all been waiting for. No longer is it just about being in the top 4 – it’s all about  being in the title hunt. That’s our new reality for Arsenal.

Pundits won’t give us credit as title challengers until we win it. But the reality is that given the form of everyone for the first 1/3 plus of the season, Arsenal are the most consistent team in the league – in all facets of the game and home and away.

The draw while it keeps us at 5 points clear on the table, would’ve been a better result had the next two matches not been against title challengers Manchester City and Chelsea. While Chelsea no longer look formidable, Jose Mourinho has shown he has Arsene Wenger’s number. City, have an attack at home that just make you go oooh and aaah. So coming out of Everton without max points while not the end of the world creates more stress in these two matches.

But hey its why we play the games and as I think I say repeatedly in the podcast, it’s all to play for.

So enough of this go ahead and have a listen.

Give us your feedback, we’d love to hear from you.

Stay Goonerish
