YAMACast Episode 3 – The one after the North London Derby loss

Some general apologies about this edition of the podcast – it’s too long. The goal really is to have a podcast that sits in 45 to 60 minutes in length. This one sits at around 1 hour 20. The problem (it’s not really a problem) is that we have great guests. They had a lot to say and a lot of really valid points to make.
In this podcast we look at the two big news stories that are the centre of the Arsenal universe this week. First, of course, we look at the match and the effects on Arsenal and what it all means. Our first guest, Sophie Niccolau (@soccerdiva and britishsoccerdiva.com) the former co-host of World Football Daily joins us to break down the North London derby. We take a look specifically at a significant loss that has been 3 years in the making and what it all means.
Our discussion takes a wide berth from the match itself to the factors that led to this loss and where do Arsenal go from here. Sophie’s insight and unbiased critique is heart-felt but its real and raises the right questions all Gooners should be asking of their team.
NOTE: There will be a hiccup in the interview as we had some technical difficulties and had to reconnect with Sophie on phone rather than via Skype
Then we take time with Phil Wall (@AngryofN5 and angryofislington.com), board memember of the AST to discuss a little NLD but we really focus on the financial stories that areso much a focus of how Arsenal Arsenal operates. Phil wonderfully breaks down the financial situation on his blog and makes it easier for layman like myself to understand the complex nuances of all those financial reports.
Phil and I take a look at how much money there may actually be in the Arsenal coffers and what we might expect to see in terms of “spend” this summer. Additionally, we discus the current ownership model, the lack of leadership from the top down and the reported £1.5 billion bid a consortium of Arab shiekhs may come forward with.
in the end we had two great conversations with a lot of meat for everyone. If you’d like to listen to each one separately the time marks for each interview are:
Sophie starts at 8:46
Phil starts at: 50:51
Thank you again to Sophie and Phil for joining us and to you for listening.
