YAMACast: S2E9 – the one before we take on “ze Germans”

PLEASE NOTE:

In this episode of YAMACast we have encountered some technical difficulties in the interview with today’s guest. As much as we tried we could not enhance the sound any more than we were able. Please pardon the quality but it’s a great interview nonethe less.

Well, what a weekend and what a week ahead. We’re fresh off the Liverpool drubbing and we’re straight into the Champion’s League tie versus Dortmund. It certainly is a good time to be an Arsenal supporter.

And why not? We’re going out every week and proving the doubters and naysayers about this team wrong. We were pegged tohave a hard time with Liverpool and we didn’t. They had a few moments but nothing more. Arsenal simply outplayed them. Whether anyone outside of Arsenal will attest to that remains to be seen.

We take on Dortmund in a reverse tie from two weeks ago. While it didn’t end well in London, it wasn’t the end of the world. No, it was an equal affair that changed on one moment of quality counter-attacking football. For Arsenal there is all to play for today. They can go and do the deed, they can get a win in Germany. It will be hard but it is not impossible. A draw even, would be a good result.

After our sojourn to Germany we come back home and travel up to Old Trafford where for the first time in many years, we go in with a good chance of getting a favorable result. The hoodoo that was a Fergie led team is gone. United still have their playmakers and will eventually come good. But as Arsenal showed versus Liverpool, our stronger midfield can and will exert itself on the match. United do not have a midfield that makes you stand up and take notice. They are more in my opinion a group of talented players that lack cohesion. Quite the opposite to Arsenal. Talented players around that are held together by a belief in the project and a manager who believes in them. That goes a long way.

We discuss all of this with today’s guest Tim Stillman (@LittleDutchVa on twitter). Tim can be read as a regular columnist on Arseblog and Vital Arsenal. He is also doing an amazing job of covering the Brazillian league. He’s definitely worth the read.

As we mentioned  in the intro, please excuse the interview quality. I know Tim operates off a laptop mic and it seemed a little difficult to hear him. We’ve tried to fix the audio as best we can but all it means is you’ll actually have to pay attention.

We’re still without my trusty sidekicks Tom and Billy and that leaves you with me and then Tim.

Thanks as always for tuning in and enjoy the podcast. Until next week – Stay Goonerish!

all we do is win! bitter sweet for me. quite poetic seeing that on both match days, the home team were better but lost.

ramsey for poty, indeed. let’s see if he can keep this thing going. he’s certainly playing better than most would have predicted. we’ll see if this is simply hot form or another level. the beautiful thing about his shots is that they’re all on target.

Josh, “better than most would have predicted”?
Ummm. Most folks on this site thought he was SHIT, and shouldn’t be playing for the club… he wasn’t Arsenal quality, I read repeatedly…
He has certainly shown he is “Arsenal Quality”… he’s a MUST PLAY at the moment.

And the matches keep getting tougher this week…
3rd match in a week coming up, AT UNITED.
A draw would cap off a fantastic week… a win, would be unheard of…
