Why Arsenal should not be too disappointed that Martin Odegaard will return to Real Madrid

Well, what were the www.bestaustraliancasinosites.com odds on that happening, then? According to several sources, Real Madrid want Martin Odegaard back this summer and won’t be considering any offers from Arsenal to lengthen the loan deal.

And you know what?

Arsenal should not be even in the slightest bit bothered.

Bringing Odegaard to the club in January was a mistake in the first place and it looks like even more of a mistake if they didn’t have it locked down that he could return next season.

Arsenal fans have seen this before – Denis Suarez ring any bells?

Another ‘top loan signing’ made right at the end of the January 2019 transfer window who took ages to settle and adapt to life in the Premier League and departed that summer having not delivered what was promised. Sure, not all of it was Suarez’s fault given he suffered injury and illness but January loans when you are not a club desperately fighting relegation have always felt like curious things.

Bringing a player in from another country and expecting them to hit the ground running instantly is bizarre – and if you are not expecting them to hit the ground running instantly why are you signing them on loan for six months in January? That is the window where you need instant successes on loan otherwise there is zero point bringing them in.

So, Martin Odegaard. There is no doubt that Real Madrid’s youngest ever player is a good player – we know that. He’s been OK in the seven appearances to date and played pretty well against Leicester at the weekend.

But is he more important than Emile Smith Rowe. Or Saka? Or even Nicolas Pepe (who surely it makes more sense to try and get more out of considering how much money he cost?).

I would say not – which makes the signing nothing more than decent PR to me. ‘Look at Arsenal, bringing in Real Madrid players on loan. Mikel knows what he is doing!’ Ahem, Dani Ceballos anyone?

People are suggesting Arsenal might go back in and try to sign him on a permanent deal – based on what and why? Reiss Nelson, Joe Willock, Smith Rowe, Saka. Why not put faith in the players the club have grown? The odds on Arsenal pipping the likes of Borussia Dortmund to signing him are remote anyway, according to the betting experts at the USA real money casinos.

And Arsenal fans really shouldn’t be too worried – trust in Emile, he is the one.
