Arsenal list a host of players on the transfer market

Things are far from great for Arsenal at the moment, with the club having already created a bit of unwanted history for themselves despite the season only being a couple of games old.

Of course, the Gunners have had two extremely disappointing defeats already, with both of them having been in London derbies against teams from the west of London.

The defeat against Brentford was perhaps more disappointing than the one to Chelsea at the weekend because of the manner in which it was delivered, but there is no hiding from the fact that those two losses have provided the club with their worst start to a Premier League season, ever.

Things do not get easier for Mikel Arteta’s men, either, as they will need to go up against Manchester City in their next game at the Etihad Stadium; a team that the Spaniard knows well following his time as assistant manager to Pep Guardiola, but also a team that the Gunners simply do not enjoy going up against whenever they play them, which could be bad news for sports bettors who enjoy Premier League betting on the Gunners.

Indeed, there are a number of changes that need to be made to the club, with player recruitment certainly amongst the priorities in north London, especially as the current summer transfer window edges closer to deadline day.

The club have already made a few acquisitions this summer with players like Nuno Tavares, Albert Sambi Lokongo, Ben White, Martin Odegaard and Aaron Ramsdale all arriving at the Emirates Stadium over the course of the summer with a total of around £129 million having been splashed.

However, it could be argued that the Gunners still need to add a little more to their squad if they want to compete with the teams that they should be fighting it out with, especially if they want to make an instant return to European football.

But, if recent reports are to be believed, it would appear that the club are now looking to make transfer funds available by offloading players and saving their wages, as well as bringing in the additional funds.

It has been claimed by The Telegraph that ten players could be up on the chopping block in north London, as Arsenal appear to be desperate to generate the money required.

There are a number of names that are on the list that are far from a surprise, with many of them simply not good enough to remain at the Emirates Stadium or simply surplus to requirements under Arteta’s management, although there are a few surprise names, as well.

One of those names appears to be Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The current Arsenal captain has been a talisman for the club in recent seasons, although the previous campaign was by far his worst as he appeared to be a shadow of himself.

This came shortly after signing a new mega-deal with the club which is thought to be worth £250,000 a week. Unfortunately, there are stark similarities between this deal and the one that Mesut Ozil had once signed and the impact that they had on the two players and their form for the club once the ink on the contract had dried.

The Gabon international, though, could be a difficult player to sell. Although his reputation should interest a number of clubs, his age (32) and his wages are likely going to put off a number of teams whilst others simply would not have the finances themselves to accommodate the striker.

Additionally, Alexandre Lacazette is said to be a name on the list of available players with the Frenchman’s career at the Emirates Stadium in doubt. He was a substitute against Chelsea and failed to come off the bench, despite the Gunners chasing the game.

Other names include players such as Bernd Leno – as he will not extend his contract and appears to have already been replaced by Aaron Ramsdale in the near future – Hector Bellerin, Sead Kolasinac, Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Lucas Torreira, Willian, Reiss Nelson and Eddie Nketiah.

It should be noted that there are already a number of rumours and potential movements to have already been made regarding some of the aforementioned players, though.

Transfer guru, Fabrizio Romano, has already revealed that Torreira has returned to Italy on a loan deal with Fiorentina, Kolasinac could be heading to Fenerbahce, whilst Willian has an offer on the table from Corinthians back in Brazil – but this deal could be a problem as he is understood to be waiting for a European club to make him an offer.

Arteta and Arsenal will have to hope that finances are freed rather quickly, though, as they only have a week or so in order to get any more business across the line. If they do not, January could feel an incredibly long way away for the Gunners, whilst that particular transfer window is far from easy to conclude deals in as it is.
