Arsenal got their Yann?
A source close to Arsenal has told our very own writer Alex (@AlexFortyNine on twitter) that Arsenal and Rennes have agreed to a fee for highly rated French midfielder Yann M’Vila.
If the information that we have been provided is true the club are set to announce the deal early after the season ends. The deal is reportedly based on a transfer fee of around £16-£18 million with added bonuses. M’Vila’s contract is reported as around £60-£70k per week and is a 4 year deal.
As with any information of this type, until the club formally announces it, even as good as the information is, it should be treated with some amount of caution. We only need remind everyone of the ‘done deal’ for Juan Mata last season.
As an editor I questioned Alex over the last two weeks on this story as he kept getting news. We won’t and haven’t presented stories of this magnitude in the past. We also know the amount of egg we can get on our face for putting it out there if it’s wrong. However, we won’t stop doing our blog the way we always have – with integrity. (Yeah, sorry I had to put that in here so people know we don’t do this every day and won’t.) And finally, remember this – mightier press outlets than this little blog have been wrong about transfers before.
But enough about that. As many of our long-time readers know I’ve been big on M’Vila for a few years. If true, he is a big signing of the kind we need to be making to be competitive for the title. It would also go a long way to proving intent to a certain dutchman
M’Vila has represented France at every level from U16 to U21 and he has helped the Rennes academy win the Coupe Gambardella (French Youth Cup) in 2008. Since breaking into Ligue 1 and getting his first senior cap from Laurent Blanc, the french midfielder is constantly linked with a spot in the starting XI for France.
M’Vila is a sturdy midfielder who is strong in challenges and fears no-one when it comes to making a tackle. He boasts a fantastic work-rate but is by no means just about lumbering physicality. For someone of his age he has superb vision and can be instrumental in building-up attacks from the back.
If there are weaknesses to his game it’s that he does tend to struggle against speedy players and his eye for the goal is shall we say very poor.
Where Arsenal see M’Vila playing is up for discussion and speculation but in my opinion he is the first true player who could be heir-apparent to Patrick Vieira.
If we get any more information pertaining to this deal or anything else we find credible we will continue to bring it to you.
Cheers – DAG (@youaremyarsenal) and Alex (@AlexFortyNine)
Stay Goonerish!!

I wanted to know what can workers a bee in single’s life so that’s roughly it not who could not give an literal answer.
[…] thanks to a number of solid performances over the past year. Earlier this week it was announced on https://youaremyarsenal.mystagingwebsite.com/general/2012/arsenal-got-their-yann/ that Arsenal had all but signed the Frenchman, numerous other media outlets backed these claims […]
[…] midfielder), but I wouldn’t hold my breath, they seem to just be rumours. As we have mentioned in an earlier article, the second star signing Arsene has made is the much sought after Yann M’Villa, of Stade Rennais. […]
I always wondered where the Media get their transfer stories from, I never realised they picked them up off twitter. All this news about the M’Vila deal off, but would it be fair to say most of the tabloids wouldn’t have had a sniff of this unless you posted it on the internet DAG? Oh, and is the deal off or not? Im getting Deja Vu of the Mata transfer last summer
@George,
We are sticking by what we reported.
ps what the f**k is up with the black stripes on the new kit??? Hoping it’s a hoax kit cuz that is fuglyy
@OziKenyan,
Not black – blue
@DaAdminGooner,
It’s Nike’s patented Obsidian color as per Tim from 7AM.
Don’t really give a damn at this time. If we field a team capable of winning hardware they can play naked for all I care.
@OziKenyan, the black stripes are permanent arm bands, for the memory of a once great team!
They are encouraging the fans to mourn as a group.
Go buy a kit.
@stag133,
@ Stag – How do come up with gems like these !!
BTW great reporting DAG. The story’s all over the web now.
@soccerfreak, oh, just the cynic coming out regularly, is all…
If the M’Villa deal is already “OFF” before it was even on… maybe they can add a yellow stripe down the center of the team kits back… in honor of being cowardly!
M’Vila would be brilliant. I think Hazard would be even better, but unfortunately seems we’ve been beaten to that one (though I doubt we were ever in the running once we saw the competition).
Butterfly effect of the Hazard move (if he does end up at City) would be potentially getting Johnson/Milner for cheap. I think Johnson is an excellent impact player. Someone to have when the other team has parked the bus with his one on one ability. Though a bit of a diver.
Milner is one of the most dependable players out there I think. So so versatile as well. Not sure how he’d fit in here but he’s quality.
Bleurghhhh at wanting the city rejects…
@OziKenyan, City won’t be selling players to Arsenal… they don’t ned our money… and won’t improve a rival team…
only Arsenal do that, for MONEY.
Nasri, Clichy, Kolo… all getting to lift a trophy on Sunday?
Painful.
@stag133,
Doubt they see us as rivals… Sadly enough. And they can’t just stockpile THAT many players. The size of their squad as it is has to be one in, one out. The only thing that would stop these players from moving on would be an unwillingness to reduce their wage demands in which case I see a likelihood of them being loaned out with City footing some of the wages (a la Adebayor).
@OziKenyan, Ozi. Nobody is stupid enough to sell their players to other Top 4 teams, unless they see the players as not being able to help them much.
City can afford to pay wages of players sitting in the stands… they have before.
They are interested in WINNING, not in helping Arsenal, United, Chelsea, Liverpool, etc…
If they sell off players, they can afford to take less money to sell them to Italy, Spain or Germany…
What team that claims to be among the best sells a good player IN THEIR LEAGUE to a better team or rival team?
ARSENAL?
Forget about City selling to us… its not going to happen.
@OziKenyan, I would think the player most hurt by a Hazard move to City would be Nasri.
@arrogantmonkey, well, he can just hit him in the head with his League Champions Medal!
I will like too see yann m’lla at emiret stadium playiny
he doesn’t score you clown, 4 in 124
Thank god we got someone decent. But looks like Hazard is off to city ;(

You never worried about Heisenberg’s uncertainty? THe very act of observation changes the observed? Meaning the very fact that this came to light this early means that it doesn’t happen as someone with bigger pockets swoops in..? Shame if that happens…
It would then become a could have been, would have been sort of scenario… Never sure until some autobiography comes out… :P
bould in as #2. another (ahem) bold move by arsenal fc. hopefully this will go some way to stabalizing things at the back.
@jroybower,
Banfield also likely to take 1st team role.
m’villa is a good player he passes and he scores we need him

Need to see it to believe it :-P
Sounds like total BS to me. Just some hopeful thinking from a big Y’ann M’Vila fan. There’s been no news about M’Vila from any of the big news outlets and nothing on Sky Sports News so yeah….. I say BS.
@Blackhat,
Mirror, Daily Mail and Sun all carrying it as of tonight. Considering we don’t publish like this stuff ever rather than coming on here and talking shite – be constructive.
@stag133, Certainly would not mind if we signed him. But, we also need Vertonghen and another goal scorer.
If he does arrive we would probably have to go with a 4-2-3-1 like what City employs. With the arrival of Poldi that would put a premium and lot’s of competition on the 3 MF/Forward slots.
oh, if he can’t shoot the ball, and can’t score goals…
then WE HAVE TO HAVE HIM!
:)
He’ll be perfect with Rosicky and Gervinho!
LooooooooooooL
I watch some Ligue 1…
and have seen him a few times this season.
He looks pretty good in actuality.
I’d be happy we made the splash.
If we can sign Vert the Dutch Defender…
I’d be quite shocked, awed and pleased…
and we’d have all Summer to offload any of the flotsam and dead wood we have accumulated.
By the way guys, that is not the real Jamie Sanderson. Just an imposter.
Surprised to see Jamie Sanderson in one of the first comments!
Also, funny that after your tweet that it was going to be on the site instead, it almost completely went down pretty much 3 seconds after that was posted, like really I went directly to the site and it’s completely down.
Really hoping this will happen after watching Norwich game. Arsenal needs control and if M’Vila is anything like people say (Present of Viera, awareness of Makelele, etc) it’s going to be the best summer ever (loosely defining the beginning of time as last summer).
But all the confident air being aired out by the site really felt like it was official as I was reading on Twitter, only for you to say that we should treat it as a rumour. It really made so many Arsenal fans ejaculate prematurely, just like Juan Mata as you said. I ejaculated prematurely too as your confidence really had me. To be honest, if you had said ‘it might or might not happen like Mata’ beforehand, I’m sure you would have gotten less abuse.
Good luck with the mad traffic though!
apparently someone on twitter who started this has admitted he was bored and has made it up for a laugh. gutted.. still might happen, just not yet i fear
Hoping it’s true !
Arsenal have opened talks with Yann’s agent but I haven’t heared any thing about any agreement.
