After a long season, the team here at You Are My Arsenal have found that social media (Twitter in particular) has been vital in promoting our blog and keeping in touch with the Arsenal online community.

We may not agree with everyone’s views, and it’s been made abundantly clear that not everyone agrees with our views, but we still strive to read and cover all different angles and opinions on Arsenal Football Club.

But obviously it’s not all about us, so we’re asking you who your favourite non-YAMA related people/blogs are. Using social media yet again and the hashtag#YAMAS13 nominate who feel were the year’s best in the following categories:

Best Arsenal Blog
Best Arsenal Blogger
Best NEW Arsenal Blog
Best Arsenal Podcast
Best Journalist (who is a good outlet for news on Arsenal)
Best Tweeter
Best (and most balanced) Opinion Writer. (This includes bloggers and tweeters)

The format you should use is something like this: #YAMAS13 nominate Such in Such Blog for best Arsenal Blog.

All nominations will be collected through 14 June. Then we will run a survey monkey to vote for the winners. Voting will last a week.

Last season’s winners were:

Best blog + best podcast: Arseblog + Arsecast (@Arseblog)

Best blogger + best opinion writer: Tim Stillman (@LittleDutchVA) –

Best new blog: The Arsenal Collective (@AFC_Collective)

Best tweeter: 1ST place: @DarrenArsenal1  2ND place: @GarethDParker   3RD place: @MikelArteta08

Best journalist/football writer: Philippe Auclair (@PhilippeAuclair)

we’re in ghost mode on this yama site. like stag, i don’t tweet or twit or twat either. the idea of social media; sharing everything with everyone, may be the way forward. blame it on me getting old but i’m not getting on board. nosy folks need to mind their business.

stag, i read your post on the previous thread. you haven’t sold me the right dream to think bringing fabregas back would be a good idea. we simply don’t agree. i believe arsenal have a better chance running arteta, wilshere, and cazorla as the three in midfield than dropping either of those players for fabregas. i wouldn’t sell sagna this season either. he can leave after next season. jenkinson isn’t even close to the tactical level that sagna is.

we both have our opinions on why we don’t like koscielny and vermaelen respectively. the biggest counter argument i have is that vermaelen’s greatest assets are also his greatest weaknesses. he doesn’t know any other way to play the game. you’re simply not going to teach that old dog something completely different. it reminds me of the lehmann/almunia comparison i made back in ’07; lehmann’s errors were mistakes where almunia’s errors were down to the way he played soccer. i think the same applies to koscielny and vermaelen.

david villa? leading the line in the premier league? you’re having a laugh. that dude’s best days are long gone. he’d flop worse than shevchenko. i wouldn’t mind him if arsenal played with two up front but i prefer any of arsenal’s current strikers leading the line to david villa. not saying i like our current options but saying a 31 year old david villa is not the way forward. wenger’s interest is a trap he set for tottenham.

ashley williams and wayne rooney, okay. the rest is nonsense, brother. the big rumor, jovetic, would be the worst signing. he’s a second striker but arsenal don’t play with a second striker. wenger would stick that kid out on the flank; just like he did with eduardo and arshavin and, like his predecessors, he would piss away the best years of his career sitting on the arsenal bench. why on earth would he ever want to come to arsenal? arsenal need a proper out & out center forward.

Agree that Higuain should be the top choice, no contest. Also 100% on the same page regarding Jovetic. I suppose we could convert him, as we did with RVP, but the amount of time that would take would essentially mean the season objectives takes a back seat which is a no no for me.

Regarding Cesc, I am 100% with Stag. Cesc is one of the top mids in the world. Where would he fit in? In his old position. Assuming we sign nobody other than Cesc and a Fwd:

      GK
      Def
2 of Arteta, Ramsey and Wilshere
      Cesc

      Fwds – Walcott, Fwd/Giroud, Cazorla

The beauty of the blog, is that we all have our own ideas and opinions… and disagreeing isn’t really much of an issue, because we’d all be utterly shocked if Arsenal took any major steps in improving the team with big transfers.

I think we did pretty well, with Sagna injured, and he isn’t close to what he was pre-injuries (that’s plural)… he’s not going to get back to that level, in my opinion. Time to move on there.

David Villa is 31, not 41. If he were at Arsenal WITH CESC, who can spoon feed anyone, then he could definitely score a lot of goals. He isn’t that expensive either…

I am still highly doubtful, and high skeptical we will bring in anyone that changes the equation at the club. And Manchester United are stupid enough to sell one of their star players, to a rival in their league (be it Chelsea, Arsenal, City, or Liverpool)… if he’s sold, he can “name his price” at PSG.

It’s fun to dream, but the Gaz-bag, said Wenger is here for ever (or the long run!).
Another exciting run at 4th place is much more likely next season.

Arsene-al making their classic comments, that they’ve made in some fashion, every off-season since 2009… “we’re going to spend big”!!!

Ummm, yes… and today is SEASON TICKET RENEWAL DAY!!
Do you think perhaps there is some correlation between the two things?

    perhaps its not coincidence…
Arsene-al are probably linking themselves with Fellaini and Rooney !!!
(though bringing those 2 players in, would solve a lot, and bury a lot of ill will with the fans)

Yup… No getting excited until we see the actual confirmed signings..

Since I don’t tweet (twit?)… and this blog has gone away to Twitter… I guess the days of interaction on the site are long gone and hard to find!
